Röthelstein Castle was built around the year 1655 and originally served the abbots of Admont Benedictine Abbey as a summer residence.

It was a place of creative leisure as well as providing a dignified setting for social occasions.

The castle has now been lovingly restored in great detail and is once again open to our guests. This is a location which has lost nothing of its ancient and stylish atmosphere.

Proud chandeliers once again light up this major historical construction. The varnished red tile floors have regained their shine.

The centuries old fantastically carved wooden doors are a perfect fit and the castle garden is blooming in all its old splendour.

Time seems to stand still at Röthelstein Castle. This is an ideal location to reflect on what really matters in life.

The inspiration to achieve balance and a sense of well being begins with breakfast, served in the Arcade Room and featuring a wide selection of high-quality regional products.

Enjoy a glass of red wine in the castle garden. Close your eyes for a moment and feel the stresses and strains of everyday life melt away as you breathe in the fresh perfume of the forests.

The castle café is always available to provide a friendly meeting point for pleasant conversation.

And, as befits a real summer residence, our guests are, of course, afforded the opportunity to test out their skills in tennis, archery or boules.

Whilst all this is going on, children have the chance to burn off any excess energy in the playground on the castle lawn, a safe environment far removed from traffic and exhaust fumes.

For weddings, there can scarcely be any more attractive venue than the ceremonial Great Hall.

The religious marriage ceremony is held in the dreamlike castle chapel before all the wedding guests take up their seats at the table set up in the arcade courtyard.

As the great day draws to a close, the happy couple withdraw to the exquisitely decorated luxury wedding suite located in one of the rustic style romantic towers.

At other formal events such as receptions, anniversaries or banquets the arcade courtyard generates an atmosphere that fills the whole castle with warmth and happiness.

There are also attractively designed and intimate gun rooms wonderfully suited to the arrangement of family celebrations. We suggest that conferences and major receptions are held in the Great Hall.
