JUFA Bruck an der Mur/Weitental

Nature adventure park with a dragon’s den

The JUFA Bruck an der Mur is located in the idyllic Weitental Valley Recreation Area, an ideal venue to relax and recharge your batteries. The varied wooded and meadow landscape, the numerous springs and the stream running through the Weitental Valley all combine to provide an experience of nature which is probably incomparable in this form.

The Weitental Valley lies to the South of the trading town of Bruck an der Mur in an area where quality of life is high. Bruck is the district capital of this important tourist region and is well known for culture, industry, education and sport as well as acting as an important traffic hub.

Only a few minutes’ walk separates the Weitental Valley from the pedestrianised areas of the old part of the town. This is a quarter which features both traditional customs and modern art.

Weitental Nature Conservation Centre

There is plenty going on throughout the year both in Bruck and in the Weitental Valley. This makes the area an ideal destination for families. The Weitental Nature Conservation Centre is a shelter for protected species. Hundreds of wild animals are taken in and cared for every year before being released back into the wild wherever possible.

A visit to the young animals is a major summer attraction. Numerous hiking trails provide an opportunity to explore the surrounding area, and the Asia Spa Leoben is the ideal place to spend a few relaxing hours with the whole family.

Ridor’s trail – the adventure playground

Kuno Kauz and Fridolin the Fox are on hand to help children visit the animals of the Weitental Valley. Can they see like an eagle, jump as high as a grasshopper and balance like a cat? Are they as strong as a bear or as smart as Fridolin and Kauz?

Ridor’s trail takes in twelve stop-off points in the forest. The idea is to awake the dragon Ridor, the King of the Weitental Valley, from his deep sleep.

The sticker book and sheet for the trail are collected from the JUFA at the starting point. The children then affix their stickers as they complete the various tasks.
